| Introduction and Demo of Exchange 2010 |
| Speaker: Ross Smith IV
Ross Smith IV kicks off TEC Europe for Exchange with an introduction to Exchange Server 2010 and demos of key features. He will discuss how investments in both on-premises software and services has changed the way in which we think about Exchange development and how these parallel tracks have created the most powerful and cost-effective version of Exchange yet. |

| Session Abstracts |
| Ask the Experts Panel |
| Speaker: Ross Smith IV, Greg Taylor,
Brett Shirley
In this session we will discuss the various ways CAS namespaces should be designed to accommodate scenarios such as seamless datacenter failover, unifying external namespace, publishing through ISA, providing load balanced services and others. We will also discuss CAS migration for Exchange 2010 and explore the multiple options available to provide a smooth transition to 2010.

| Decoding Email Message Headers |
| Speaker: Michael B. Smith
A messaging professional should be able to look at the message headers of a message (which can be viewed from Outlook) to determine where a message actually came from, the delivery path it took to reach the destination, and many other pieces of information about the message. In this session, we will discuss the required message headers and the common optional message headers. We will also discuss “trust” regarding e-mail messages and how we can determine the trust level of authenticating a message actually being from whom it says – versus a “spoofed” message that is not from where the sender would like you to believe! |
| Deep Dive into New Features for Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) in Exchange 2010 |
| Speaker: Brett Shirley
In this session we will peel back the hood of the Microsoft Exchange Information Store (IS) and of the Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) to take a look at what’s new in Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange 2010. We will focus on two areas — changes that increase the robustness and reliability in the engine and changes that affect the protection of the data underneath. We will explore changes that increase the performance, scalability and make the reduction in I/Os per Second (IOPS) possible. |
| Exchange 2007 and its Web Services |
| Speaker: Ilse Van Criekinge
In this session Ilse will provide you as IT Professionals an in-depth
overview of what's the secret behind those Exchange 2007 Web Services.
First a general overview of this application programming interface will
be given, and then Ilse will dive into Autodiscover, Availability, and
the Out of Office assistant Web Services. |
| Exchange 2007: Exchange ActiveSync = what's the deal? |
| Speaker: Ilse Van Criekinge
In this session, Ilse will go over Exchange ActiveSync, and dive into
topics like: how does it work, is it secure, how can you manage it, how
does it compare to Bes, what's the status of IPhone. |
| Exchange Messaging Records Management |
| Speaker: Michael B. Smith
In this session we will discuss how to use the Messaging Records Management features of Exchange 2007 to provide the features that were present in Exchange 2003 Mailbox Manager for the deletion of old e-mail. We will be using the Default Folders capabilities so that an Exchange Standard CAL is sufficient. We will also learn how to go beyond the capabilities exposed in Exchange 2003 and use additional MRM features. |
| Exchange Server 2007 Clusters on Windows Server 2008 |
| Speaker: Juergen Hasslauer
If you want to take advantage of a clustered mailbox server then you have to understand the architecture of a Windows Failover Cluster. This session explains the features in Windows Server 2008 related to clustering. You will learn what you have to consider if you want to use a geographical dispersed mailbox server deployment. Where should I host the File Share Witness? How should I configure the DNS entries? We will share configuration and management best practices. This session is focused on the Windows operating system of an Exchange cluster. It will help you to understand the foundation of your clustered mailbox server.

| Exchange Server 2007 Standby Continuous Replication |
| Speaker: Juergen Hasslauer
Starting with Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 you can use Standby Continuous Replication (SCR). SCR is Microsoft’s answer to site resiliency for the mailbox server role in Exchange Server 2007. We discuss the pros and cons of SCR compared with Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR). You will learn how to setup SCR. We explain how the replay lag time and the truncation lag time influences the log file shipping process. We describe the necessary steps to activate a SCR target after a disaster. This session helps you to successfully implement and manage SCR.

| Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) Architecture & Database Physical Format |
| Speaker: Microsoft Program Management
In this very technical session, we will take a deep dive into the architecture of the ESE engine, the different components that compose the engine, how they interrelate and store data. We will cover transactional logging, buffer cache management, B+ trees, space management, and the underlying database physical format.

| Future of Exchange High Availability |
| Speaker: Ross Smith IV
Welcome to the future! The future of Exchange high availability, that is. In this session, we reveal the changes and improvements to the built-in high availability platform in Exchange Server 2010. Exchange 2010 includes a unified framework for high availability and disaster recovery that is quick to deploy and easy to manage. Learn about all of the new features in Exchange 2010 that make it the most resilient, highly available version of Exchange ever.

| Migrating Exchange Public Folders to SharePoint |
| Speaker: Ilse Van Criekinge
Get an overview of Microsoft Exchange Server, and how Microsoft decided to de-emphasize Public Folders in the
current version of Exchange, Exchange 2007. We will go through the
most common features that you are used to having in Public Folders (such
replication, Client permissions, Offline Access, Mail-enabled Public
Folders, Dumpster availability, and Management of Public Folders), and
then take a look at how SharePoint may be the tool to use in the future. |
| Transition/Migration to Exchange 2010 |
| Speaker: Greg Taylor
Walk through the process for introducing Exchange 2010 servers into an Exchange 2003/2007 organization. Learn the pre-requisites, steps required to introduce the 2010 servers, as well as, the impact to client access for MAPI, OA, OWA, ActiveSync, and POP/IMAP clients after the upgrade has occurred.
